Dipayan Baishya is a business strategist, a former journalist and the co-author of a best-selling business book. He has worked extensively on consumer research, digital and design-led innovations and stakeholder communication. In his most recent role, he serves as the head of strategy and communication at a leading consumer business in India.

Dipayan started his career as a financial journalist, writing for the Business Today magazine from its bureau in Mumbai. Subsequently, he was engaged with the country’s leading business daily, The Economic Times, writing long-form feature articles on the evolution of Indian businesses, their organisational growth and consumer strategies.

 

He is also the co-author of the book, It Happened in India, that captured the growth of consumer and retail businesses in the first decade of the 21st century. The book celebrated the spirit of entrepreneurship in the post-liberalised India, and it has been translated in multiple Indian languages.

 

Dipayan continues to be an occasional columnist for leading dailies in India and has been quoted and cited in a few books. His current areas of interest include the behavioural sciences, public policy, and the role and data and digital technologies on consumers and societies.

Dipayan was a Fulbright Fellow at Carnegie Mellon University’s Tepper School of Business, a Don Sheehan International Journalist Fellow at The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania and a student of economics at Presidency College, University of Calcutta. He loves traveling to places associated with the origin of different religions and believes in the maxim of continuously learning, unlearning and relearning on the world we live in.
